Lady: Do you have a sushi menu?
Waiter: This is a Chinese restaurant.
Lady: …So no sushi?–Suzie’s, Bleecker Street
This does happen. My parents used to run a small Malaysian restaurant and someone once came in and said, “I don’t suppose you sell fish-n-chips?” And then as if a light bulb just came on, he answered his own question, “No, guess not.”

This happened to me once: A guy came into the office supply store looking for some obscure item. When I told him we didn’t stock it and couldn’t order it, his response was, “Oh, so I guess you don’t want to do business with me.”
Uh…”office supply store where I worked…“

What about the people who come to the library and get upset cos you won’t let them buy a book, only borrow it?
Person: How much is this please? [puts book on counter]
Me: Err, it’s not for sale.
Person: But I got it off the shelf over there.
Me: Well sir this is a library, all the books are for loan only, not for sale.
Person: What?? I can’t buy this? Come on, how much do you want? $50?
Me: No sorry, none of these books are for sale, if you want to buy your own copy try the bookshop.
Person: Are you sure??!
Me: …
