It only takes a few stupid white men (or women) to feel “imminently threatened” for all the other racists to crawl out from the woodwork. Whilst it is understandable but no less abhorrent, that ppl of Middle-Eastern descent and perhaps even ppl who looked Pakistani - heck, why not let’s also include ppl who looked Indian - will get increased scrutiny and distrust from the public as a direct result of the continued bombings around the world.
However the recent happenings in Queensland (for those outside the country, it’s the hick state where Pauline Hanson came from - which is ironic because they earn quite a bit off tourists who go to the Gold Coast & the Great Barrier Reef, *read - foreigners*) is totally unwarranted and only possible under this climate of “us vs. them”. A race-hate group is targetting African migrants in that state. Like wtf man. Where the hell did that come from?
Sadly though, I’ve seen this before - back in the late 80s when there was a mild economic depression and they picked on the newly-arrived Asians. Of which I was one. But this time round, Australia is booming so where does all this hatred stem from? Ignorance and lack of understanding can only be blamed.
On a similar note, a professor from Macquarie University in Sydney spouted the same ridiculous message as the racists - that Africans have lower IQ and higher testorone level which leads to more crime. He also said that Australia would eventually be ruled by a minority Asian middle-class when we are only about 5% of the population. He based his theory on the fact that Asian kids do better in school. Hello!? Study harder then f**kwits!
He’s asking to be fired … oh wait, it just happened. And get this - he’s not even Australian, he’s Canadian. Good f**king riddance. F**k off back to Canada, asshole.
To those who tell me to “go home”, I will - just as soon as all you racists pigs go back to Europe and give the land back to the Aborigines. Do you morons realise how ridiculous that sounds!?

I have been to many countries and Australia is a sad racist continent! No wonder the aborigines prefer to drink to their deaths than deal with the “whites”. Australia is the racist capital of the world! Even friends from here who visited Australia as tourists experienced racism and it’s like they were there for a few weeks while they lived in Canada for years and didn’t find Canada racist at all. Makes us wonder….
Manila
manila: well which is why we have to always stick up for ourselves. Argue some sense into these idiots.
Well I think there is fear because they’re afraid that what happened to the Aborigines will happen to them too.
I am quite shocked by what the professor said - he, of all people, should know that race is nothing but a folk catergory. Bah.
At the end of the day, racism’s everywhere. Not just Australia. I’ve been subject to differential treatment in Singapore too - most times when I’m with Bruce I suddenly get special treatment. Other times, people give me the evil eye, almost as if they’re branding me a slutty SPG.
But, while there are racists, there are more sensible people out there. And so far, I’ve had more good experiences than bad.
starry: yeah definitely - I’ve had more good than bad. And it has come a long way since the time I arrived. I can’t imagine how’s it like when my parents were here studying in the 60s. Hmm, sounds like a good article to investigate for. Might go interview my parents.
Yea mooiness, do it!!! I’d be interesting to hear their stories =)
starry: mission accepted!
