There weren’t many better ways to end the lazy Sunday that was than with a BBQ. On the menu: honey-marinated chicken wings, lamb-chops with garlic and ginger, curry-marinated steaks (surprisingly good – Uncle Alex was trying out a new recipe), and good ol’ prawns.
How do you know if it’s a Malaysian (or Singaporean) BBQ? When there’s a big tub of sambal belacan on the table.
Here’s some family snapshots. Dad in white, Uncle Alex and Aunty Judy; cousin Reugan.
My brother Marvin and cousin Reucas.
Mom and Snoop.
Another one of Snoop – angling for some carniverous action.
There were beer and red wine. I had both. I was warm and fuzzy the rest of the night.
The simple things in life are really the best.

Hey your uncle alex doesn’t happen to own or run a hawker food place in Nedlands… does he?
starry: he does. In Broadway Fair. You been there ah? His cooking is delish.
You are gettin good at piclogging!! I hate it when people ask me why am I taking pictures of a wall, some grass or why they can’t eat their food just cause I want to take a picture!
Stay in touch for my bbq in the shed.
honeypot: hahahah…..yes I get the same questions too. BBQ in a shed? Now that I have to see.
Wah… *dagger eyes the food, esp. the belacan*
Damn Mooi, I gotta stop visiting your blog so often… Too much darn food and company and good times. You are making me really homesick you !@#$%^&*()
Alright. Return to sanity. Even without the warmth of the charcoal fire, their presence sure chased away the winter cold no?
I knew it!!! Yes I’ve been to his place several times! Bruce and I love the food there =)
Damn, now I have a craving for his char kway teow. Sigh, there goes the diet.
vandice: sorry lah. but from your audio post, you don’t have long to go right? Yeah good company does chase away the cold – of course, the wine helped a little.
starry: his beef kway teow is yum too. :9
Can’t believe it, your uncle owns that store, is it the store with those super delicious curry puff?
jjj: it’s the one that used to be an Indian store. Right opp Kong’s.
That was my comment on the top.
Thanks for the ignore Marc.
Manila
Manila: you think I’m mind reader ah? How the hell would I know it’s you???
I ignore anonymous comments dude.
Your cousins have unusual names! How are they pronounced and where are they from?
(The barbie looked great, by the way – made me hungry!)
erm yea, I think I meant his beef kway teow. Damn, I can smell it already. Noooooooooooooooooooooo…
cw: they are from KL too. You know how you pronounce “Reuben”? Take the “Reu” sound (Roo), add “cas” as in “Marcus”, and “gan” as in gern. Their siblings have similar names: Reuvin, Reushen, and Reuzhen. Five of them.
Hahaha I think all of our foodie posts make ppl hungry. It’s all good – I love looking at food.
starry: yeah yeah. Good ain’t it? *drool*
I might walk down to get myself some later. Wheeeeeeeee!!
I remembered last time you used to tell me you can read my mind especially when we were in the club checking precious properties out?
Why? Can’t forget to put my name meh?
Old already lah!
I usually dun fancy doggies.
But yours doggie is very cute!!
I think it has more to do with the pic and its captions.
manila: that’s different.
blinkymummy: yes I like that pic too. Was tricky – suddenly saw him peeking his head up and then had to quickly take the pic with oily hands.
