Some bloggers out there only respond to a small number of comments, if
at all and that is understandable. It’s impossible to reply to everyone
when their blogs get so many visitors and comments.
Me being a smalltime blogger can respond to everyone. I respond
because I feel that it is rude if I don’t acknowledge the fact that a
visitor took time out of their busy days to come read my writings and
then spend even more time commenting on them. Also I have a theory that
responding to ppl would make them repeat visitors since they’d always
check back in to see if I’ve responded (it’s my cunning plan…).
And yes, practically half of the comments you see here are my replies to
my readers. Bite me.

I used to not reply because I wanted to see how the discussion would pan out without me… and there have been quite a few differences of opinion on my CPA blog.
Then I took a leaf out of your book Mooi, and started replying them, because as you said, it’s nice to acknowledge that people make an effort to make comments on your site. It also shows that there is a real person behind the blog. But then I found all the debate just dissipates after I’ve put in my 2 cents’ worth.
That happens with you? Hmm. Well console yourself thus: you make such articulate arguments that no one else has anything intelligent or substantial to add after your 2c.
And yes I have seen those differences of opinions on your site. But that’s only because you post such though-provoking topics.
