You are an 80s child if you can recognise these snippets of various songs:
- Guilty feet have got no rhythm
- Take a look at yourself and make that change
- I just can’t seem to get enough of
- ‘Cos I’m living in a material world
- It’s hot here at night, lonely, black and quiet
On a hot summer night - This year to save me from tears, I’m giving it to someone special
- East-end boys and West-end girls
- Oceans apart, day after day
- Take me on, I’ll be gone in a day or two
- I’m on the hunt I’m after you
- I’ve been walking these streets at night, just trying to get it right
- Let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come On
Here are the answers for you non-80′ers. If you *are* a child of the 80s and you can’t figure them out, shame on you.
- Careless Whisper - George Michael
- Man in the Mirror - Michael Jackson
- Can’t Get Enough - Depeche Mode
- Material Girl - Madonna
- Summer in the City - Billy Idol
- Last Christmas - Wham
- West-End Girls - Pet Shop Boys
- Right Here Waiting - Richard Marx
- Take On Me - A-Ha
- Hungry Like A Wolf - Duran Duran
- Patience - Guns & Roses
- Shout - Tears for Fears
I’ve been humming “Careless Whisper” this whole morning since hearing it on the radio on the way into work.

we are talking about songs that were very popular in the 80s…
you born yet or not? maybe you baby at that time
September 28th, 2005 at 11:17 am
Actually I just googled, Big in Japan was first played in 1979(!) and I know Forever Young - liked the remixed dance version too. Heh.
I think we can safely agree that we can’t put *every* song onto a list. It’d be too long.

I recognized all of em’.I feel old….
I remember promising myself that “Right here waiting” will be my favourite song forever and ever. I’m glad my musical tastes have evolved tenfold from then..:P

hehe! if not for the popular retronites back in singapore, i prolly won’t have an impetus to know more about 80s songs.
What about ‘Dying Inside to Hold You’ by Timmy Thomas? I love that song. U reckon it’s one of the 80’s greatest hits?
September 28th, 2005 at 3:31 pm
Timmy thomas was in 1992. I remembered because I had to save up my allowance to buy his album
God, what a big waste of money..:P

[...] Channel V and Max TV were both showing 80s and 90s clips. As I secretly rocked to Wham, A-Ha and Transvision Vamp, I suddenly felt like digging out my cassette collection. I have a box in the storeroom somewhere. I also suddenly thought that I should maybe get CD versions of those since the tapes might have gone bad by now. I was mouthing the words to Transvision Vamp’s “Baby I Don’t Care”, tapping my feet to Wham’s “I Don’t Want Your Freedom” and A-Ha’s “Take On Me” always make me feel emo. I so love the 80s. [...]
