This is an email-exchange I just had with a married friend (female). I thought I’d share it with ya. ![]()
My friend wrote:
We went to a birthday party and there was karaoke afterwards at Utopia, but we didn’t want to stay at karaoke, so some girls and I went to Metro.Yeh, first time in AGES. Anyways, after paying the exhorbitant $15 entry fee (what happened to a drink with entry!?), we rocked on down and boogied the night away, amongst the young (babies!) crowd, and amidst a hip hop dancing comp?!?
Anyways, the hip hop dancing was crap, but the music was OK.
Then some sleazy guy came up to me while I was dancing and tried to pick me up with….. wait for it, a text message on his phone!!!! He had written ‘I want to get to know you better’ on his mobile phone and shoved it in my face.
I took one look at it and shook my head man. So BAD!!! Anyways, was wondering if this is the ‘norm’ these days. Like technology is really making it happen to pick up in clubs?! Hahaha.
Still, he must have pretty bad eyesight to not have noticed the bling
on my finger!Okays, enough of my exciting clubbing adventures. Just thought I’d
share it with you. Hehe.
I replied:
Aahahhhahahah! I actually laughed!Well maybe he used SMS because the music was too loud, and he didn’t wanna lean in too close to whisper it in your ear, least you thought him a bigger sleaze.
Hmm kinda makes sense. But honestly I’ve never seen it used. Damn and I thought I was hip with the trends!
My friend is waiting with bated breath to see your comments.

erm, i actually did that at my only ever attempt at picking up a girl in a club. well it was probably less of a pick-up line than a ‘conversation’ cos’ she tapped me on my head first and we started msg chatting cos’ the music was blarring. yeah, that was probably quite lame, sigh…
the v.u.: nah dude at least the girl initiated the contact with you first. With my friend, the guy just put the phone in front of her and expected a favourable response. Heh.
methinks its a good idea to chat with someone via sms in a crowded club…
But yep, I think guys who are overconfident and not looking out for the blings are just….tedious
Although I agree that it’s a good idea, seeing how loud the music in the club would be… I can’t help but think it’s a kinda lame way to pick up someone. Maybe more so if there wasn’t any pre pick up line behaviour.
hey that’s a good way to communicate in a noisy pub… in fact my nokia hp i think its model 2330 was supposed to be able to flash neon messages in the dark by waving… i haven bought the clip on gadget…
marcus its difficult to post comments here cos most of the time it does not open
sourrain: yeahlah especially when the girl does not seem interested in you.
As for the bling, I made the mistake once and ever since then that’s the first thing I look at … after the face, the body etc. Hah!
starry: definitely. When there’s no green light, don’t go!
hiao auntie: really!? sounds like a cool phone. Yes SMS is a good way to talk, but for picking up diff story. Unless the girl has already shown interest.
I haven’t done anything different to the blog leh, so I really don’t know what could be causing your problem.
