Continued from Singapore Update 1, Singapore Update 2, and Singapore Update 3.
Am now blogging from KL – right now in a internet cafe in Sungai Wang.
Monday
Met up with BM and her “good fren” for dimsum at Carlton Hotel. (Jeremy is right – BM’s abbreviation of “gf” really does conjures up some tantalising images. Wahahah.)
Great conversation over food – one of the greatest pleasures in life. As I’ve mentioned previously I believe that I have found a life long friend in BM. It really felt like we’ve known each other for ages – even longer than the time since I started reading her blog and her mine, and our subsequent online chats. V. surreal. I told her the first day we met up that it was like “we know each other but not”. And now we do.
Am also glad for her and “good fren” – they are such a compatible couple. Even their sense of humour and views of things are a match. I like him and he makes me laugh.
We continued our great conversing at this tapas bar (I forgot the name too – maybe it was just “Tapas Place”?) over a few beers. You can see BM’s pics in the link below in the last paragraph.
After we’ve parted, I refreshed and then headed out again for dinner with some friends. Had dinner at an Indonesian place at Clarke Quay (I was just there that afternoon). Mmmm. Yummo. The weather cooled down nicely and the beers that went with the meal was very soothing.
And then after dinner, we walked next door to Brewerkz. We ordered two “towers” of beer – you have to see the pics to believe it. Each holds 8 pints of beer so that was 16 pints for the 5 of us. Damn I was so drunk. And I had to wake up the next morn at 6am to catch my bus to KL. Woohoo. I had an awesome time.
In fact my whole time at Singapore was awesome. I truly believe that it is the people that really makes a place enjoyable and worth visting over and over again. Every major city in the world has the same facilities – casinos, nightclubs, bars, cafes and restaurants. So what makes a place distinctive is definitely its people.
BM touched on this during our conversation and she has blogged about it too. To the ppl that I’ve met and who’ve taken the time out to show me a good time – I thank you all! I’ve now got more of a reason to visit Singapore and it will not take another 10 years.
