The term is used so often these days that we have become desensitised to it. And you’d think that only men would use it or be called that, but women use it too. At times it’s even a compliment like: sexy muthafucka.

Anyway I don’t know why but the word just kept popping into my head today. You know what they say about idle hands being the instruments of the devil? Well, you can add idle minds to that saying. ;)

So naturally I googled for the true origins of this near ubiquitous phrase and found a fascinating read on Wikipedia. Besides the obvious meaning that one has committed the big taboo of incest, there’s also the theory of it being African-American in nature and the theory goes like this: back in the slavery days, it is very common for slave women to be raped by the slave owners. The children born out of these unions were taught not to call these rapists “father” but, you guessed it - “motherfucker”.

Which may sorta explain why the term is so prevalent in black music and comedy.

We learn something new everyday. :)

Was chatting with Kimberly and I was telling her that I saw a video on Xiaxue’s blog. She said, “Where got?” I could have sworn I saw her posted it up on the weekend but I guess she has taken it down.

But the internet is vast - in the internet, everyone can hear you scream. ;)

Here’s the link to the search results on YouTube.

And check out how someone tag his/her video of Xiaxue:

That’s pure gold. Can’t make that up even if I tried. :P The vid that I told Kim about is the second one (June + me) where they are doing some lip action thing.

The videos that I took are in a previous post.

The gig was at Amplifier on Murray St, Perth. It’s tucked away in an alleyway besides Capitol.

Hot night for a hot band - the guys were madly sweating away on stage.

The acoustics are better here than that at Mojo’s. And the venue is bigger. Just as well, this time round due to some hard work of self-promotion on MySpace by the guys there were a lot of new fans in the crowd.

It was a great set by the guys.

And there was more than one happy fan who went home last night.
