These pics were taken on the day described in Penang Update 2.

Had some breakfast in the morning and lazed around till lunch time. We went and got some rice-porridge with fried pig intestines. Sounds horrible but was absolutely fabulous. Washed it down with the requisite kopi-o-ping – ice black coffee.

On the walk back to the car, came across this shop.

Look closely and it says “Tan Ah Lee Motor”. What’s so funny about that? It’s just a very cliched Chinese name, is all. Like Tan Ah Beng. ;)

After lunch, came home and lazed around again for a bit more. Choy (my dad’s youngest cousin who’s the same age as me) came and pick up my brother and I. We were gonna go to Segafredo in Gurney Plaza nearby for some beers.

That’s Choy in red. He’s a merchant sailor captain.

Came home and ate some more (!!!). Dazed in front of the TV before I went out again with Choy. And you guessed it, we were gonna go for supper. More food!

We went to a kopi-tiam in Pulau Tikus – quite a famous place if a bit more expensive than the others.

I had some FKT, or Fried Kuay Teow and washed that down with more kopi-o-ping. Both being quitessential Penang food items. Mmm. Doesn’t that just look mouth-watering? :P Choy had some Loh-Mee – yellow noodles with thick egg gravy.

That ended my first day in Penang. There was gonna be more food over the next week – my final week of holidays.
