Cosmic coincidences abound this weekend. A reader said that I’ve lost the “personal touch“. And a colleague of mine who reads my blog asked me the exact opposite yesterday:
How come you can blog so personally?
And no he didn’t read the latest posts regarding the issue. So the question just popped up based on his impression of my blog.
My answer to him was that except for the details, I don’t feel that I have anything to hide. And my blog is the way I am in real life, and what you see is what you get. Except working hours, happy or angry I’d wear it on my face. I seldom get depressed or sad as you would have gathered. In real life, and also here I’m an open book.

By extension I also think that “open book” people are better to deal with, and to have as friends. If you are angry with me I want you to say that you are angry with me, and why. Better still, don’t have a delayed reaction and be contradictory. Don’t lie and don’t manipulate. Don’t be sneaky. Don’t flip-flop. Don’t back-stab. Basically, don’t be a two-faced bastard/bitch. I want “what you see is what you get“!
Being “one-faced” is what I uphold for myself and it is what I expect from people who are lucky enough to be in *my* social circle. Mm, kay?

Sometimes, this freaking world is just plain weird. Some people see you in one light, while other see you in another.
It’s more like same face, different light.
hahaha. I kinda like that two-face pic of batman.
You know how batman beats him? (in the movie?)
by throwing some coins of the same value at him when he is making a toss of decision
It is great that you are so honest, and I disagree with the comments saying that you don’t blog personally. I really think you DO blog personally. your blog is definitely one of my favourites to read, and I always look forward to the next installment
However, the comment about you seldom getting depressed or sad; everyone does sometimes. I find it hard to believe that you are ALWAYS so happy. or do you just not have anything bad happen to you?
Lupin: hey “same face, different light” makes sense too. Profound.
girlstar7: well shit still happens to me but I choose to not let it bother me. I try to place all my problems in perspective – out of 6 billion ppl on the planet, my problems are definitely nothing in comparison. As for ppl hurting/dissapointing me, I’m quite cold-blooded in a way and I move on very very quickly.
And thanks for your approval and support of this blog!
That’s what I am practising. White lies are only good for temporary relief from tension and unpleasant encounters. Yet we often overlook how ill feelings accumulate without our conscience taking honesty in them to resolve. I’m with you on this, Marcus.
die also wrong, don’t die also wrong.
Hahaha.Ah well.Sometimes I do question the sanity of personal blogging..esp when one wrong blog can literally get you sacked.
blog hop ^^
nice *personal* blog here
ian: you mean not letting bad things bother you? Yeah it’s better to vent or deal with it and move on quickly. Bottling it up ain’t good for the sanity or health.
sourrain: it’s a fine line between self-expression and asking for it.
qureyoon: thanks!
so this is very subjective lo. but i think your blog’s just right for me… with the occasional “omg, how is it that he’s talking about his sex life??!!!” but who doesn’t like surprises?
and besides after a while, i realize it’s just about your life…
and you don’t make those not-so-popular-personal-stuff-to-blog-about tasteless.
so blog on!
sharon: heh. thank you for your support!
I think you’re blessed with the ability to express yourself very well with words. Keep it up
herman: thanks for the compliment man!
erm… it’s like that…
if everyone can blog as personally as you, then nobody will be reading your blog.
btw, what’s with hog’s breath cafe?
they opened one here recently.
very special meh?!
BM: about “personal”, true that.
Hog’s Breath Cafe – great if you like steaks and ribs, so-so only if you don’t. And it has a bar area where you can hang out and watch a big screen TV. It’s like a theme restaurant really.
And I know why they opened one in Sg – cos I always see a lot of students in the one here.
