I am a big fan of the Infernal Affairs movies. The plotline of a gangster going undercover as a cop, while a cop goes undercover in the gang of that same gangster was a fantastic twist of the genre. Brilliantly original too. And those iconic meetings between the characters on a roof top of a building - woo.

So when I first heard there was a going to be a remake titled “The Departed”, directed by Martin Scorsese no less I was very excited. Leonardo DiCaprio takes on the role played by Tony Leung in the original, and Matt Damon plays Andy Lau’s role. And Jack Nicholson (brilliant casting!) plays Eric Tsang’s gangster boss. Woohoo!

The movie is scheduled for release over the next few months starting October the 6th, depending on where you are - Australia gets it late!

CAN’T WAIT TO SEE IT !!!!! I’M A BIG FAN !!!
I going to see it though I doubt with Infernal Affairs as fore-runner, I don’t think Leo can fill Tony’s shoe likewise for Matt.
herman: yeah man! woohoo!
Lupin: I saw the trailer - it’s decent. I liked it.
It’s going to be hard to top Infernal Affairs. I haven’t been that impressed with hollywood remakes of foreign classics the past. eg 7 Samurai vs Magnificant seven, The Ring, Nikita vs. Assassin(even though Brigette Fonda is a babe). hope I’m wrong though.
“The Departed” looks good and even if you discount the strong cast, it has Martin Scorsese, so it can’t be that shit-house.
It’s always nice to see hollywood take a leaf off the Hong Kong movie scene.
I always used to call it internal affairs..sounds like some sort of porn.
WOOH!!! Jack Nicolson as Han Cheng!!!! Hmm i wonder who’s doing the role of Anthony Wong??!
From the looks of the cast, i’m assuming it to be Martin Sheen.
sourrain: “internal affairs” would be an appropriate title for the original movies, and it also reflects the real IA units in police departments but “infernal” is that much cooler.
v.u.: it could also be Alec Baldwin but can’t really tell from the trailer.
haha, it would be really funny if Alec Baldwin turns out to be Chapman To’s character…THAT would really be the defining moment telling us how low his career had sunk
I like the fact that the movie has a very different feeling, yet the same. It maintained quite a lot of similar points (like the arm in cast, the meetings at movie theatres), but the overall feeling is quite different - one won’t go, I’ve watched internal affairs so I won’t catch this. I like the fact that while Leonardo keeps Tony Leung’s desperation, Matt Damon has a less polished feel (which is refreshing). Andy Gracia’s going Anthony Wong right? I saw his face briefly in the trailer.
Woohoo, mooiness, you made me look forward to this film.
Sorry, it’s not Andy Gracia. I think that was Alec Baldwin. heh
