Mid-Autumn Festival at my parents’ house
The following is a video-clip of the Mid-Autumn Festival gathering last night at my parents’ house. It’s complimentary to the photos taken.
A breakdown of the clip:
- Mom making a popiah
- Hun-Ye and “ham-choy potato”
- Having pulut-hitam (black glutinous rice pudding, or “bee koh muoy” in Hokkien)
- Having mooncake
- Snoop annoying Hun-Ye
- Paul and Yvonne doing the “Lantern Walk” – it is believed that couples who do this will get married soon
Making an appearance in the video are:
- Mom and Dad
- Reucas, my cousin who is also my housemate
- Marvin, my brother’s voice
- Yvonne, my cousin and her boyfriend Paul
- Hun-Ye, also a cousin
- Bee-Khim (Hun-Ye’s sister-in-law, hence my cousin-in-law, who is visiting from KL)
- … my voice and Snoop
Uncle Alex and Aunty Judy were there but I only had photos of them instead of videos.
This video (running time: 9:22) is a small glimpse into the dynamics of my family and our lives here in Perth. Hope you like it!

[...] The last time we did a popiah session was the Mid-Autumn Festival of 2006 at my parents’ old house. If you wanna see how one makes a popiah, there’s also a short clip which I’d shot of mom making one. [...]
