Woohoo! So I talked about what it meant to me previously from a video-maker and blogger’s point of view. As a normal viewer though? I’d be willing to put up with more ads (either video or text) if it means I can continue to conveniently watch copyrighted materials, and amateur clips made with or without copyrighted materials *in the one place*. That has always been one of the prime attraction of YouTube along with its community.

Copyright issues have also begun to be sorted out via deals with various big media owners:

Now with Google’s investment, the technology behind the system would possibly improve at a greater rate especially in the area of content policing. And maybe we would have the option to view videos in their original resolutions. As for YouTube’s presumed bandwidth woes and the astronomical cost of maintaining them? Gone in an instant – as reported in several places already, Google has ample bandwidth to spare. YouTube would have been crazy not to sell out.
