Xbox 360’s “Gears of War”: Commercial
Gary Jule’s “Mad World” from the “Donnie Darko” soundtrack, his version of the Tears for Fear’s song of the same name, has been used in countless emo scenes in countless US drama serials and movies. Now it has shown up in an ad for XBox 360’s “Gears of War” - a first-person shooter game.
And it works. Brian Crecente who wrote the article at Kotaku where I saw this has said that he “can’t wait for this game”. I’m inclined to agree. I hadn’t thought about buying any of the next gen consoles: Wii, Playstation 3 and the XBox 360. But after seeing this ad, and watching the gameplay trailer for “Gears of War”, I’m really jonesing for the XBox.
And I just got my tax return. Coincidence? I think not.

Still waiting for the vids to load…so I’ll just say I’m looking forward to the PS3 because I want FF13 and Metal Gear Solid 4 =)

I kept seeing this trailer everywhere while I was in Singapore. the game looks awesome. the other game that looked really cool was the boxing game fight night. kinda like LA Confidential meets GTA.
I’m still sitting on the fence on PS3 vs Xbox360 vs Nintendo Wii. gotta see the other 2 first. I think the first one to offer a HD TV tuner and PVR upgrade seals the deal for me. Wii looks interesting with the nunchaka controls.

Rob: All 3 next-gen consoles offer HD but I dunno about the PVR. I never heard that they were gonna offer that. I don’t think that would constitute part of the gaming experience anyway.
At the moment, I’m leaning towards Xbox as mentioned. And I ain’t biased either. Over the years I’ve had the PS1, and the Gamecube.
