Neil Strauss’ “The Game” – Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists. A female friend of mine saw this book and immediately thought of me. She even offered to pick up a copy for me. At first, I was chuffed. Then I realised it’s not because I’m a great pickup artist but because she think I have no skillz. “I thought you might be after an ‘educating’ read.” Damn I’m hurt. 
From the Amazon link above, I saw this other book – The Complete A**hole’s Guide to Handling Chicks. Check out the bullet points:

This book was written by this so call player in the field. But I doubt it works.
To what I feel, pubs is one of the worst places to pick up girls.
BM: The first one is more like a documentary. And, the second one does sound like a good laugh – it’s meant to be tongue in cheek.
Lupin: it’s a different culture over in the US. Different techniques apply I assume.
I like the sound of the book that you found better. sounds like a hillarious read. I don’t think any of it will work either.
I don’t know if I can assign a cause-effect relationship but I have observed that the biggest success factors for a guy to pick up chicks is confidence and a touch of bastard. That’s why picking up chicks is difficult for those of us who can’t channel our inner bastard.
Rob: from my prelim research on the topic, there are ppl who do take it very seriously and there are classes ppl pay good money for. They treat approaching women like a salesperson would approach a sale.

I have a read a bit of that book; when I was working as a receptionist I found it in my married boss’s desk when I was looking for something else! he reckons he can get the most ugly, poor, guy with the worst social skills laid! It is quite interesting actually, you should have a read, if just for entertainments sake!

as a chick i have read this book, and admittedly some of the moves would work because not many guys can pull it off successfully. it would if it did!
