Today I was deep in thoughts revising the disaster-plan for one of our servers (one down, more to go!). It involves being really paranoid and thinking up all kinds of nasty things that can happen - being hacked, loss of data, hard disk dying, loss of power etc, and then thinking up the recovery procedures for each of those nasty things. Joy. Except it wasn’t. Being paranoid is really stressful and tiring.
Then my mind drifted off to the happy place that is Godskitchen tomorrow night. Weeee….
Shiny happy people laughing
Meet me in the crowd
People people
Throw your love around
Love me love me
Take it into town
Happy happy
Put it in the ground
Where the flowers grow
Gold and silver shine

Ha, Day-Dreamer.
To assume the worst-case scenario for a server, u need to have a secondary backup site.
Well yeah the ultimate solution is that you double-up on everything. That’s not the end of it though. You still have to figure out the quickest and most efficient to quickly switch over - not all companies have automatic fail-safe solutions, for example the smaller company that I’m at now.
Isn’t it always good to have something to look forward to? When you are having a particularly stressful day/week at work and you’re starting to feel the heat, it’s always good to think, ‘things are stressful now but i’ve got…this weekend’. Whether it’s a holiday, Godskitchen, or just a regular night out, thinking about something you’re excited about is always a good way to put you in a good mood and get you through the stressful times.
Oh yeah, and have an AWESOME time at GOds
girlstar7: yeah totally agree - the thought of good times ahead will always pull me through the day. And I will have an awesome time! I will try to take some photos though lately I’m beginning to prefer to concentrate on the music and jumping around. It’s hard to keep thinking of taking good pics and wanting to have fun at the same time.
