Jack Daniel is my new BFF
Over the years I’ve gone from liking Chivas Regal to Johnny Walker Black. Now I add to that list: Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey. I find that it is smooth and easy to drink, and the taste is mellow and almost sweet. When I read about how it’s made, I actually salivated. Primary because of this:
Jack Daniel believed “Every day we make it, we’ll make it the best we can.” For him, that meant mellowing his whiskey drop by drop through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal.
Sugar maple charcoal. Mmm. I don’t know what the hell that is but it sure sounds delicious.
Since the middle of the week, when I had the idea of researching about this, I’ve been looking forward to tonight. I’m a responsible drinker see, I only drink on the weekends. 
On that note, have a bloody good weekend! Woohoo!

What kind of cheese goes good with JD?
Mmmm….alcohol…. Does the fact that I drink during the week make me an irresponsible drinker? Or just an alcoholic? haha

steph: I don’t like straight whiskey either, gotta have it mixed. But JD is the only one I can handle straight. That and the really expensive stuff.
I’m sure the progression of taste should go the opposite direstion ie JD -> JW -> Chivas.

OMG I can’t believe it’s taken you so long to discover Uncle Jack! My fav drink, I’ve been drinking it for years. Then again, it is the stereotype rocker’s drink of choice other than beer. JD cokes, yum, very sweet. Do you drink it o the rocks ? If so, you should try more bourbons – Maker’s Mark and Woodford Reserve. MM is sweeter but both are quite smooth for sipping, have a bit of a caramel tone to them.

have you tried single malt? i like particularly those peaty/smokey ones….caol ila, laphroaig, ardberg..etc
then again…these are supposed to be enjoyed straight/on the rock/with a dash of spring water thing..

Lynchburg, Tennesee; the home of JD, is a ‘dry’ county, consumption of alcohol is not premitted there. The aforementioned law dates from the time of prohibition and can only be repealed if at least 1,000 resident voters sign an appropriate petition.

it must be a real pain in the ass to live there
sourrain: yeah! no bars, pubs and stuff. Night life must have been real subdued. There’s probably a lot of drinking done at home, with alcohol smuggled in from across the county borders.
