The other night at PvD I was chatting with a woman and we got talking about what we do etc. She said she works and studys part-time. I said to her jokingly, “So you’re a mature-age student then?”
“Yes, mature and 31,” she replied.
I said, “You look young for your age. Guess how old I am.”
She looked at my face and thought about it for a while. “34.”
I said, “Good guess. I’m 33 soon. What made you guess that age?”
She said, “I was gonna say that you were in your 20s but I figured you don’t carry yourself like a guy in his 20s. You got that self-confidence, and also the things that you talked about.”
And that is how you puff up my ego.
Pity that it took me so long to feel comfortable about being myself. All those hot chicks in uni? I could have talked to them without stammering and stuttering. Bloody hell that I bloomed so late. ![]()

awww…you’re a big boy now.
proves that youth is not everything in its naive innocence:).

awwww. You do know that young chicks totally dig older, urm I mean matured men, right? This is your prime!

Better late than never. Now go find some blondes.

Totally!!! but older men stresses me out..they seem too wise and i feel like i have to constantly say something smart and witty….

That is a real compliment: she’s saying that you LOOK in your twenties but carry yourself and have the confidence of a guy in his 30s. Great combo!
I often get told something similar. I am only 23 but look younger (people often think I’m still in my teens). But after talking to me, most people guess my age at around 25. I may look like an 18 year old, but I don’t talk like one!
BTW that picture is so cute! Your brother was a really cute baby, I like the way he is pulling on your ear!

blur ting: I do find that it’s harder to talk to the really young girls than older girls though. Hahah. It’s a good problem to have.
sourrain: true that. Pity we can’t have it both at around the same age.
Lisa: yup I know that too. Woohoo!
Papa: I think your blonde obsession is greater than mine. I like all kinds of women.
nihonwhinequeen: the good ones will make you feel at ease regardless.
girlstar7: yeah it was a double-compliment! Having a baby face has its good and bad, but it’s mostly good. Yay for us!

better a late bloomer than a non bloomer
December 13th, 2007 at 10:31 am
I agree with LupinTan - better a late bloomer than a non bloomer! And you know all those hot chicks at uni would have probably been urging you to talk to them!
December 13th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
Lupin: true true.
Katie: argh! why am I cursed to only have this confidence now?! I could have scored big time in uni.
December 13th, 2007 at 1:17 pm
Aiyah, at least you’re hot now!
My friends were lamenting about all these guys who were hot in uni last time, all turning out to be… well… un-hot now.
So, you’re totally lucky… You’re like a wine. Getting better with age. Think Sean Connery.

Ju: Woohoo! You can keep those compliments coming in all day long.
December 13th, 2007 at 7:22 pm
Eh, true lah…
December 13th, 2007 at 9:38 pm
Ju: Hahah, many thanks for your kind and ego-boosting words then.

Hontoni (really? in japanese)…mm…i m going to work on it then… thanks for the vote of confidence..:)

nihonwhinequeen: honto desu. Sometimes it also boils down to luck and chance in the people that you meet.

I agree that age and maturity (with confidence) does not necessarily move with age. You can be youthful and mature in your 30s too! I am personally amazed that you can still club all week… because I am wasted once I don’t have enough sleep at work! =)

rn: hahah I don’t club all week lah - it’s only on the weekends.
