Tomorrow ends my second week of my new job. Thus far, I’m really enjoying myself and I’m doing stuff that I dabble in frequently as a result of me running this little blog. I do have to adjust to not having full access to the servers, which is probably a good thing anyway. You know what they say - the more access you have, the more work you are expected to do.
That said, compared to my old job it feels restrictive sometimes to have to wait on someone else to do what I can normally do. On the other hand, it is very nice to have rules and procedures in place. Everything has a structure and is where you’d expect them to be. The in-house software that the customers and the internal staff use is great too.
The team that I work with is excellent, and in general the office has a very relaxed atmosphere. And the biggest perk has got to be the fully automatic espresso machine. Can’t go back to having instant coffee in an office anymore, I’m afraid.
Then there’s the commute. This may sound weird but I love taking the bus and train to work because I like people watching. And it goes without saying that there’s always a hot chick or two who takes the bus and train at the same time everyday as I do. Regular and punctual eye-candy is good for the soul I believe.
So yeah I’m loving it.
Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles

Am loving “Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles” at the moment. Lena Headey is hot in a MILF-y way, and Summer Glau is hot in a not-smiling Terminator way. Being a TV show means it’s on a smaller budget, but save for big explosions and showy stunts, the actions scenes are pretty well-done. Plus the story is holding well during this first season.
There are rumours that it may not make it to a second season. The US TV drama land is quite crowded at the moment: with Desperate House Wives, Grey’s Anatomy, Heroes, Lost, Prison Break, the CSI series etc. all vying for ever diminishing TV audience.
I hope it gets renewed because I like sci-fi and I like hot women. And the show is a good drinking game too apparently.

Thinking like a man, and not a woman
Blinkymummy and I had this conversation while she was here.
Me: I had this female housemate once. One night she was waiting by the phone for her boyfriend to call from Singapore. As the hours go by, the call doesn’t come and she gets more and more agitated. So I said to her, “This call is obviously important. Why don’t you call him instead of waiting for him to call?” And she replied, “No! He’s supposed to call!”
And then when the call finally arrived, they spent at least 20 minutes going back and forth about why he didn’t call earlier when he was supposed to. Soon, they had pretty much forgotten the original purpose of the phone call for that day. I just don’t get it.
BM: Well you won’t, because you are thinking like a man.
Blinkymummy’s weekend in Perth
Blinkymummy and GF’s whirlwind trip to Perth was less hectic than expected. We even had time in between to nap once in a while! Nonetheless we covered a lot of ground. Here are some of the places that we got around to this weekend.
The places we visited ranged from the urban environments of East Perth …
and Fremantle …
and Subiaco …
to the edges of the metropolitan area like Cottesloe and the beach …
and the vineyards in the Swan Valley.
I’d like to think that I’ve shown them a very intimate view of my beloved city, Perth. It was tiring but it was worth it. ![]()

My good friend Blinkymummy and her Good Friend are arriving from Singapore tomorrow morning for a whirlwind trip - they’d be here for three days, leaving on early Monday morning. They will be staying at my place, and man it’s gonna be hectic. Because it’s such a short time, we are sticking to the Perth metropolitan area mainly.
On the agenda includes the Swan Valley for the wineries, Fremantle, Cottesloe, Subiaco and the city. Along with other things like having Vietnamese pho, and going to a wine bar in Northbridge, I said I’m pretty chuffed with the itinerary that I planned for them. On my list of things to do with visitors to Perth, I’ve covered almost all of it (specifically items 2 - 9, 11).
I’m excited! And so is she!
Scenes from Perth’s public transport
You know, in a masochistic way I wanted the public transport crowds to be as bad today as it was yesterday just so I could show you what I went through. But it turned out to be a good day.
7:42am William Street, Perth.

I walked out of the Perth Underground station to the Red CAT stop at the same time as yesterday morning, but the crowd was less, and the bus arrived empty. I even got a seat!
5:50pm Perth Underground Train Station
Even though this is the first stop from the city to Murdoch Station where I get off, it can also get crowded. But nope - I got a free seat to both sides of me for the entire trip. Sweet!
6:10pm Bus stops above Murdoch Train Station.
Blissfully free of people. And isn’t the sky so wonderfully blue?!
And in other news, after a whole day of reading stuff yesterday I got to do some real work today. ![]()
