If you have spent enough time on the Internet during the past two years, you would have heard or read the term “2 girls 1 cup” being thrown around a lot. For the sake of your sanity and your stomach, do not, DO NOT, attempt to search for the pictures or videos.
If you really must know, “2 girls 1 cup” refers to a porn (this was porn, really?!?) clip showing 2 girls, 1 cup and body waste of the #2 kind. Oh yeah and there’s vomit involved. Both the body waste and the vomit are most probably fake but geesus, it’s very realistic. To get an idea about how people react when watching it, you can search for “2girls1cup reactions” on Youtube.
Anyways, College Humor imagines what it must have been like before the clip was shot and if the porn actresses did not realise what they have signed up for. Safe for the stomach but the language is not safe for work.
“r u mooiness from youtube?” - the text message typed out and shown to me by a stranger with his phone because it was too hard to talk inside the loud club
Thanks to my Youtube videos and to a certain extent, my Vimeo videos, I have been recognised on many occasions by random clubbers in the Perth scene. Some are friends of friends, and the surprised reactions from these people (He’s your friend?!) and from my friends who have never seen the videos (How do they know you?!) are quite amusing.
These kind strangers sometimes thank me for putting up the videos because they helped them remember a great night out. Some say I rock and I’m awesome. And I’d always end up having at least a few minutes of great conversation with them.
All of which are really gratifying to me. I’m always pleasantly surprised when I get that tap on my shoulder or a look of recognition. Even more so after I have decided to take a break from the photo-taking and video-capturing of the dance events that I go to. It’s been 7 months since my last proper video/photo-blogging of one of these things at Daft Punk on the Esplanade, December of last year.
I’m tempted to start doing it again, but as I’ve said to all of these strangers - it’s hard to have fun when you are busy figuring out what to shoot and where’s the best spot to do it from.
But to you randoms who recognise me and liked my videos, you guys rock too! Here are the three events that I enjoyed most during 2006-2007, with their Youtube clips and corresponding blog posts. Party on!
The manufacture of plastic consumes oil and energy, AND water. Ironic, yes?
Transporting oil to the plastic factory consumes more oil in the form of petroleum, and produces pollution.
Transporting the finished plastic bottles to the bottling factory is the same
The Cardboard
The manufacture of cardboard, like paper consumes trees. The environmental impact on trees and forest areas is lessen these days from increased recycling and from using plantation trees.
Nonetheless, the manufacturing process consumes energy which today is still mostly generated from fossil fuels like coal and gas.
Transporting the finished cardboard to the bottling factory consumes fuel and produces pollution.
The Bottling and Distribution
The bottling and packaging process consumes energy - from filling the empty bottles, to capping and sealing them, to packaging them up in cardboard boxes, and to loading them onto trucks, trains and ships.
The distribution of the finished product from bottling factory to wholesalers, from wholesalers to retailers, and from retailers to the consumer - every part of that process involves transportation of some form. All of which consumes fossil fuels and pollutes.
Using Evian as an example: water that is bottled on the south shore of Lake Geneva and then trucked, flown or shipped to destinations all over the world. All while a free alternative is available to most of us, and which retails at a price more than the same amount of petroleum - ludicrous!
Yes, all of the above are typical of all manufactured goods. Being a modern day consumer means using the Earth’s resources and polluting the environment. I’m not naive.
But drinking bottled water is the one single behaviour that we can change easily, and by doing so reduces our carbon foot print greatly. Think about that the next time you are buying bottled water that will be consumed at home or at the office.
Unless the water coming out of your household tap is unsanitary or hard, or if you are out and about and drinking water is hard to come by, drinking bottled water is wasteful and unnecessary.
If it’s a matter of taste, a water dispenser may seem like a better alternative but that still involves trucks carting around big bottles of water to your home and office, water that is close to what you can get from the tap which by the way, requires the least amount of energy to get to you. Therefore, a much better solution is a permanent reusable filter on the kitchen tap.
Drinking clean water shouldn’t cost the earth, figuratively and literally.
On the weekend whilst Youtube trawling, I saw this clip of Korean teen pop group Wonder Girls with their song “Tell Me”. The song is incredible catchy (argh, get out of my head!) and the moves are so boppy that they’ve apparently inspired a horde of amateurs to upload videos of themselves doing it.
Then someone went to the trouble of compiling those clips. The Internets. I love it. Because the moves were originally choreographed for young Korean girls, seeing guys doing them is super gay and hilarious.
Rounding up and bringing some balance to this whole thing is Korean liquid popping master Nam Hyun Joon giving us his dance treatment of the song.
The other day I brought Snoop to the vet for his annual vaccinations. The cute and petite brunette veterinary nurse working there came out to the waiting room to greet us. But of course, the main reason was Snoop. How do I know? I said, “Good morning”, and she gave me the briefest of nods before quickly petting Snoop and cooing to him, “Are you a good boy? Who’s a good boy? Who? You are! Yes, you are!”
I should look on the bright side. I would not even have the chance to interact with a cute veterinary nurse if I didn’t have Snoop. Them’s the breaks. And you can’t deny his good looks.
I was slightly disappointed with this year’s show because I thought that the set could have been a little bit harder, and a little bit more like last year’s set. But it was a memorable night anyway because all my clubbing friends were there, and so were my brother and cousin and their friends. It felt like one big happy clubbing family.
Here are two shots that I took with my phone. This is of the gigantic video screen behind the DJ booth.
This is of Armin’s brother, Eller van Buuren when he came on stage for a guitar solo. I really like how the shot turned out.
