Thanks to Youtube, I’m a micro-celeb
“r u mooiness from youtube?” - the text message typed out and shown to me by a stranger with his phone because it was too hard to talk inside the loud club
Thanks to my Youtube videos and to a certain extent, my Vimeo videos, I have been recognised on many occasions by random clubbers in the Perth scene. Some are friends of friends, and the surprised reactions from these people (He’s your friend?!) and from my friends who have never seen the videos (How do they know you?!) are quite amusing.
These kind strangers sometimes thank me for putting up the videos because they helped them remember a great night out. Some say I rock and I’m awesome. And I’d always end up having at least a few minutes of great conversation with them.
All of which are really gratifying to me. I’m always pleasantly surprised when I get that tap on my shoulder or a look of recognition. Even more so after I have decided to take a break from the photo-taking and video-capturing of the dance events that I go to. It’s been 7 months since my last proper video/photo-blogging of one of these things at Daft Punk on the Esplanade, December of last year.
I’m tempted to start doing it again, but as I’ve said to all of these strangers - it’s hard to have fun when you are busy figuring out what to shoot and where’s the best spot to do it from.
But to you randoms who recognise me and liked my videos, you guys rock too! Here are the three events that I enjoyed most during 2006-2007, with their Youtube clips and corresponding blog posts. Party on!

Bro, I think you’ve achieved the celeb-blogger status quo, on par with BM.
That’s the upside, but always remember, there are quant of downside to fame. Hahahaha.
woooot. i wanna meet celebrity blogger mooiness! will you be coming to sg again? btw i should be going perth in feb next year!
Lupin: hah that could either be a compliment or an insult to BM. Heh. Downside to fame? A slight problem with being able to be totally honest here, while at the same still liking the wide readership. Argh!
nadnut: you’ve already met me! Anyways, I’m not sure of my year-end holidays yet. Regardless I guess I will see you in Feb! Woohoo!
lol. i haven’t had the chance to party with you!
That’s awesome! A micro-celeb! I didn’t actually know you post YouTube videos - and it makes sense that you’d not be enjoying yourself as much if you’re constantly thinking about the video you are taking.
But it’s so cool that you’re famous, with heaps of minions, uh, I mean READERS…
nadnut: you will have plenty of opportunities when you get here.
Katie: yeah I get recognised only in club land but it’s all good!

Kitty: yeah you is lucky hahah! You should check out the second one from GK 2006 as well - Eddie Halliwell’s set was freaking awesome with the hard beats, scratching and crowd interaction.
