Alec Greven is 9 and already knows what took me 34 years to know about women. He wrote an essay called “How To Talk To Girls” as part of a creative writing exercise in school which impressed his teacher and principal. They then suggested it be published which it was.
He based his writings on his observations of boys and girls in school and on the playground. Some of his gems include:
- “Comb your hair and don’t wear sweats. Control your hyperness (cut down on the sugar if you have to). Don’t act desperate.”
- “It is easy to spot pretty girls because they have big earrings, fancy dresses and all the jewellery … pretty girls are like cars that need a lot of oil.”
- “Sometimes, you get a girl to like you, then she ditches you. Life is hard, move on!”

Okay, what is with the news reporter’s voice? It’s deep and husky and … totally inappropriate! lol
That kid is pretty young to be writing a book like that – if I were his mother, I’d be keeping an eye on him – he might turn into a romeo!
Oh my God, this is hilarious! The kid is really smart too, cause a lot of what he says is TRUE!! At 9 he has already figured out that you can’t act too desperate, that pretty girls are high maintenance, and that you are gonna end up getting hurt at some stage and you’ve gotta move on! I like the quote “pretty girls are like cars that need a lot of oil…” Sounds like he’s really got his head screwed on…it will be interesting to see how he does with the ladies in a few years time!
Katie: hahah you mean the man’s? Yeah I think they are trying to play up the whole macho Romeo thing. Him and the little girls posing for photos was awesome.
girlstar7: yup, that “cars that need a lot of oil” quote is very true. But you know, even if you know the game there will still be nasty girls, and it’d still hurt just as bad. But he should be able to avoid most of them.
Clever lil’ guy eh? Can’t help thinking he got a few pointers from dad haha!
Jeff: yeah I suspect that too. Perhaps dad’s a keen observer of women too.
