4 car bombs went off in and around the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh. 45 ppl were killed and 136 were wounded. Full story here.

I don’t know about you but I’m getting numb and apathetic to it all and I know I shouldn’t be. When I read CW’s entry about a bomb scare at the Perth central train station last night, I actually got excited but for the wrong reasons – it’s the same feeling as when we’d pass a road accident and we slowed down to take a look. And it’s not because we care either. It’s just wrong.

I will keep this post as a running log of the bombings etc. that happens in the world to keep me from becoming too stone cold about it all.

UPDATE 26th July 2005 11:43PM BAGHDAD –
Gunmen opened fire on a bus carrying employees from a factory near Abu Ghraib. 17 killed. Story here.


UPDATE 4th August 2005 IRAQ
In two separate incidents: 14 US Marines and a civilian interpreter were killed in a roadside bomb attack on their assault vehicle; an American journalist was shot dead in the southern Iraqi city of Basra. Story here.


UPDATE 19th August 2005 BANGLADESH
More than 400 small explosive devices went off simultaneously across the country. Explosions went off mainly at government offices, journalist clubs and courts between 10:30am – 11:30am Wednesday. 2 ppl were killed and more than 100 were injured. A recently outlawed group Jamatul Mujahideen Bangladesh had claimed responsility for the explosions. Story here.


UPDATE 22nd August 2005 AFGHANISTAN
A roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan killed 4 US soldiers and wounded 3 on Sunday (21st). Later that day, a bomb exploded near a convoy of US Embassy vehicles, wounding two. Story here.


UPDATE 31st August 2005 IRAQ
3 people have died and 36 were injured after three mortar rounds landed close to the revered Kadhimiyah shrine in Baghdad. Story here.


UPDATE 1st Sept 2005 THAILAND
1 person was killed and 28 were injured in the past 2 days in continuous violence in and around Southern Thailand that included 4 bombings, arsons and shootings. Story here.


UPDATE 8th Sept 2005 Basra, IRAQ
16 ppl were killed and 20 were wounded in the southern Iraqi city of Basra, when a car bomb exploded in a district packed with restaurants. Story here.


UPDATE 15th Sept 2005 IRAQ
In the capital’s Shiite district of Kadhimiyah, at least 112 people were killed by a suicide car bomber, many of them day labourers who had gathered at dawn in the hope of employment. This was many among a day of carnage yesterday. Full story here.

UPDATE 29th Sept 2005 IRAQ
A female suicide bomber blew herself up outside a US military office (also an Iraqi Army recruitment centre) in Tal Afar overnight. A total of 6 ppl died with 53 wounded. Full story here.

UPDATE 6th Oct 2005 Hillah, IRAQ
A bomb exploded at the entrance of a Shiite Muslim mosque as hundreds of worshippers gathered for prayers on the first day of Ramadan and for the funeral of a man killed in an earlier bombing. At least 25 people were killed and 87 wounded. Full story here.

A suicide car bomber blew up his vehicle near a crowded condolence tent during a funeral for a Shiite tribal sheikh in a small town north of Baghdad. And earlier, another suicide car bomber targeted a busy market in the Diyala Bridge area just south of Baghdad. A total of 48 dead as a result of these two bombings. Full story here.

Two suicide bombers detonated explosives inside Baghdad’s main police academy yesterday, killing at least 43 people and wounding more than 70. Full story here.
