Shopping centre surrealism

I was in a shopping centre today to get a haircut. With all that’s happened and happening in the USA right now, it was the most jarring and surreal experience for me. After having seen the images and read the stories of despair and devastation on the net, the newspapers and on TV, seeing ppl doing the most trivial things – getting haircuts, eating in a foodcourt, buying luxurious or frivilous things, and even getting basic groceries was “weird”.

I felt guilty … for being alive and comfortable. I feel guilty for not even wanting to imagine myself in a similar situation. However, life inevitably goes on. I can only hope that humanity gains from these tragic losses by learning from the mistakes and become stronger than ever.
