Australia had drawn the game with Croatia 2-2 in the FIFA World Cup in Germany. We are in the final 16. I didn’t stay up to watch it but from all accounts, it looked to have been a great game. Exciting indeed.

Pam Fitzpatrick, shot and died in Thailand

Meanwhile across the world from Germany in Thailand in Kanchanaburi, Australian nurse Pam Fitzpatrick was shot in the neck and died early yesterday. She and her sister and some friends had just finished watching the Australia vs. Brazil game early Monday morning when an altercation occured between some men outside the bar she was at.

[Two men] rode by once and someone in the [bar] yelled at them,” said Kanchanaburi’s police chief.

He said the word used, “kwuay”, translates as penis and is the most offensive form of Thai abuse. “They came back and shot [at] him. They came back quickly, so it’s likely they had the gun on them.”

Pam died over something that had nothing to do with her at all.
