Don’t get “court”

WA Police needs grammar lessons
Spotted outside my local K-Mart.

I can see how this grammatical error could have been made. The train of thought probably went like this:

Yeah, you’d get caught, then you’d go to court … so yeah, don’t get court!

Spell-check won’t have picked it up either since it’s spelt correctly. And I guess in this context, people can understand it anyway. But still. Heheh.

Hmm, I’m thinking maybe they mean it as “getting court” as in getting a court appearance as a punishment? It strikes me as a play on words – shoplifters get caught/court (cause they get both!).

But then again, I might be giving them waaay too much credit! 😛

Hahah you may be giving them too much credit! Then again, now that I look at it again, they added the word “judge” in there, so maybe it is a play on words after all?!

I’m pretty sure it’s a play on words…I am a bit of an english spelling/grammar nazi being a schoolteacher, and that was my impression!! 😛
